Slobo and Azere are friends with musical lives that remained intertwined as they traveled from their childhood school lessons, to Cardiff and Japan.

After years of trading production and songwriting ideas, Slobo and Azere met up for a few days in February to craft a genre-defying EP, “Open & Endless”. The setting for their wizardry was Planet Telex (see artwork by Sophie Forster), an old telephone communication building in the Northumbrian wilderness that was recently renovated for new means of communication that paddled in the more creative and magical realms.

Sleeping on bruised ribs and rinsing in icy water, the guitars still barely left their hands. Old ideas were sharpened and new potions were put into motion; the perfect blend of two crazy visions. Traces of folk, downtempo, breakbeat, and Indian ragas can be found across the 7 tracks, amongst a host of other pioneering ideas. The project captures the essence of both artists’ sounds, experiences, and unique circumstances.
